I read a thread kickycan started about touching handles as you exit a public restroom. The concern was about picking up germs and what not, and Kicky wanted to know how people handled the situation. Reading that thread jarred my memory and I recalled one of the most horrifying things I have ever witnessed.
My sister worked in an office area that was connected to a factory. From her office window you could look into the factory. A very, hot dirty place. One night my sister was working late. Her car was in the shop, and she had asked me to pick her up.
I arrived at the factory and sat in her office as she finished up some orders she had been working on.
The factory was empty at this time of the night, but I could see a janitor going on with his business. He was mopping his way out of the factory bathrooms. He then went directly across the factory floor and entered the lunchroom where he began to clear the debris off the table and put into his trash cart.
What happened next was truly frightening. He pulled his mop out of the bucket, wrung it out, and began to clean the table surfaces.
I probably shouldn't have, but I started laughing. My sister asked what was so funny and I had her take a look.
She went pale and I thought she was going to faint. Then she became a bit enraged and said something about eating in that lunchroom on occasion.
I'm pretty sure my sister made arrangements for that gentleman to seek employment elsewhere.
But that's the kind of stuff that happens.
Be careful out there.
Oh boy, wait until Kicky reads this one. You're opening
a whole new door of paranoia here...
That boy doesn't need any help.
What's wrong with that? I like a good, fresh-mopped table to eat on.
Am I the only one who doesn't put food directly on the table? I mean, that's kinda gross but not as gross as bathrooms.
i just eat off the floor.
noone cleans THOSE with dirty rags..
Where ever I am I also do not directly put food on the table.
Just look at any fast food places or those food courts. The people cleaning up wipe each table with some disgusting rag - like that is sufficient to clean the table enough to eat from.
I won't even use a napkin that's touched the table. Yuck.
Did you ever notice how much they mop up in a place like Burger King? It seems that no matter when you go, there's some GED hopeful pushing a mop across the floor, getting it all wet and slippery.
I have often thought of just taking a fall, sueing, and being set for life.
I have too....hmmmm, a plan is forming in my mind...
Oh no my darling Kickster....it was MY idea.
are you two gonna fight this out naked???
what's with all the germaphobia in this younger generation?
what do you do on picnics? No. Don't tell me.
Maybe...

Kicky, take your pants off.

I don't eat outside unless I absolutly have to or starve.
I think germaphobes are strange people.
truthfully.... If dirty tables, handles, and sinks carried things that were dangerous , everyone in the WORLD would be sick.
