@gollum,
The writer who works for me home schools her kids. She's required by the state (they live in Tennessee) to cover certain topics and her kids have to be tested, etc. Just like their counterparts going to in-person classes.
She's told me that it's a ton of work; anyone who thinks home schooling is a walk in the park either isn't doing it right or doesn't know a thing about it. But she also lives in a state with strict standards. I suspect other states aren't quite so picky or vigilant.
She's also been doing this now for I believe over a decade, and she's college educated. A lot of the folks who were thrust into a home schooling role last year had zero experience with it, and they obviously weren't all college grads. If they were also trying to work from home at the same time, something had to give. It's no wonder things didn't work out well for a lot of families.
In any event, comparing the 2020 crowd who were thrown into the deep end without a life preserver to my employee really isn't a fair comparison.
