Religions and supernatural beliefs are the enemy of world peace, as shown by 5000 years of war.

@Greatest I am,
You believe that Christians and Jews should be judged because of their religion (and not who they are as people). And you believe that your religion is superior to theirs.

I am glad that you are straightforward and direct about this. I still find it troubling.

Do you believe that slavery is wrong? Or is this just an opinion.

Frank replied:
It is my opinion that slavery is wrong.
Is it your opinion that slavery is not wrong?

I see Frank is still trying to maintain the fiction that he doesn’t believe Anything .
I’d still like to know what made him so afraid of his own beliefs.

Religion is one of the key factors that a civilization is judged on, read The Clash of Civilizations, but I am not surprised that most recognize that the religious do not walk their talk.

A damned good thing as I do not think we are ready to kill fornicators and gays.

In the days of Jesus, few if any wise men talked of ending slavery.

It was the only option unless one wanted to starve to death. Slavery was the ancient dole. A good safety net when there are no other options.

@Greatest I am,
Talk like that will get you put on 'ignore' by Frank.
There are many today who can’t understand that a man can often suffer as much as an employee as being a slave. Sometimes even more. He feels like he must voluntarily take the abuse.

Let the accusations of being a slavery apologist begin!

@Greatest I am,
Wrong. All the religions aside from Islam account for 3% of all violence. Islam has 4% alone.

But lest I convict Islam over-harshly, the other 93% is purely secular causes such as land, right of succession, or political groupings.

In fact, the last 100 years have been characterized by a move away from religion. Guess what? We have had three oppressive regimes during this time, each of which killed or caused the death of millions.
1. The Nazis (and their extermination of Jews)
2. The communists (and their extermination of anyone who wasn't a communist)
3. NGOs and the red-green bloc (massive ethnic cleansing and repopulation campaigns, most of which are unreported by the news)

Btw, during all of this time, the frequency of wars has gone up dramatically.

Religion, if anything, has a pacifying effect on the population.

@bulmabriefs144,
There you go again, trying to confuse us with facts.
Memes are so much more persuasive.

Get in line. I have for the fact that none of the ancient sages spoke against it because it was the only social safety net.

Sages had nothing better to offer.

Add to your apologetics that in the U.S. times of slavery, the Irish and others were paid to do the really hard and dangerous work because slave owners would not take the chance of harming their valuable property.

Seriously. You quote Carm.

Religionists have been the vast majority forever, and here you are trying to say that the minute minority of non-believers cause the vast majority to war.

Give your head a shake buddy.
