Do both "incredulous frowns " and "disapproval" refer to " teachers of religion"?

a truth fundamental to a right understanding of our place in a great universe—a truth which mankind in all ages has clung to, in spite of the incredulous frowns and disapproval of the teachers of religion.

Yes. By the way, I would call that 'incredulous frown" a quizzical expression.
