Diana Rigg, who wowed the world in the television series The Avengers as Emma Peel, has succumbed to the call from The Grim Reaper. She was barely 82.

Working through until the end, she left 2 works still unreleased. Black Narcissus, a t.v. mini-series and Last Night In Soho, both of which are in post-production.

Additionally, she had portrayed Olenna Tyrell, in the series Game of Thrones.

As well as her film career, she had an illustrious turn on stage, including the title role in Medea, both on the London and New York stages, earning a Tony Award for her performance on Broadway.

Cause of death, per her daughter's statement was cancer.

Rest peacefully.

@Sturgis,
My wife and I saw the notification of her passing last night. It is extremely unfortunate that this comes to us all.

If there is such a thing as 'resting in peace', then we hope she does.

@Sturgis,
She won a BAFTA for her performance as as obsessive mother in her later years. Off the top of my head I can’t remember what it was called, mother’s love or something like that.

@Frank Apisa,
And there was a special episode of Doctor Who especially written for her when she starred opposite her daughter.

@Sturgis,
My second teenage crush, the one right after Twiggy.

Very sad to hear of her passing.

I was just beginning to work up enough sand to to tell her about my fancy for her.
