Helen Reddy, an Australian (Melbourne, Victoria) born singer and actress died in Los Angeles, California. She was 78, would have been 79 this coming October 25.
A great thanks is sent to her as she makes her journey to whatever is beyond earthly existence.
Remembered for a continued string of hit songs in the 1970s, she caught the attention of many with her song, I Am Woman, which went on to become a feminist anthem.
A few weeks ago, a documentary, aptly titled I Am Woman was released. It is about her life.
I had that album. She wasn't just an anthem singer (if you will). She also had a lovely voice. The album with I Am Woman also has her covering This Masquerade, a jazz number, and it's a great departure from the pop.

I saw her in concert with...Mel Torme! They performed a few tunes together, one of which was a very complicated arrangement where they sang different songs simultaneously. I don't remember the songs but they were old standards, cleverly combined together. It must've been challenging to perform but it came off perfectly. Great musical artistry.
