@farmerman,
When I worked at the apartments I noticed that the old folks stayed indoors practically 24/7, not getting sun or a good walk. I promised I would never get like that. I find stuff to do every day. Not always of my choosing. Today I had to clean the A/C indoor coils, plus repair a plumbing leak. There is still lots of daylight left after lunch.

@edgarblythe,
Can you tell me what you have learned in this your thread, in particular in re:
Quote:
Wed 2 Oct, 2019 09:31 pm - from you:
I am looking for posts about life forms from the past.

Do you mean by life forms, like amoeba, Covid-19 (life form?), and you and me?

You mean biological life forms?

What about life form as intelligent entity in existence even though not human - even though not biological, what do you say about that?

I have time on my hands, and I love to talk with anyone who is interested in exchange of thoughts, so that I can learn something from him, and I love to share also something with him.

Let me see if you and I can talk, okay, so that you will wait for my reply to your latest message, and I yours - when we have nothing else to occupy our time.

So, I am waiting with bated breath to hear i.e. read from you.

Pretty sure Edgar subscribes to the theory that there ain’t no other kind.
I’m not in that camp; so what other Lifeforms have you encountered?

@edgarblythe,
very interesting findings and a possible conclusion. Were the conclusion a fact indisputably it would make the ID argument rather difficult to retain the "I" sinc the IDer would be busy repairing the damage it inflicted genetically.

Im more amazed at all these new"proxy" tests that keep arising in biology, now have a hemolytics test of diseases of newborn and young that , possibly due to organ failures are almost always fatal.

@edgarblythe,
Thanks for sharing. That one blew me away. I had no idea about the impact of the discovery and what was possible technologically in Ancient Greek times. I wonder how they could machine those tolerances of the millimeter sized gears .

@Ragman,
I remember seeing something like that, it was quite incredible.

One theory is that slavery stopped an industrial revolution from happening.

There's no incentive to create machines to carry out tasks because forced, unpaid labour is cheap enough,

Wikipedia says:
Quote:
An abolitionist movement grew in Britain during the 18th and 19th century, until the Slave Trade Act 1807 abolished the slave trade in the British Empire, but it was not until the Slavery Abolition Act 1833 that the institution of slavery was abolished.[2]
