Well, this shouldn't be such a hard question to ask. However I wonder whether I should seek higher places for guidance in life, or just follow my own instinct? Either way, life must go on...

I had a huge shock and awakening when someone told me "How you feel is up to you"...I didn't understand right away...but now, it changes everything for me.

Exactly, only you can control what goes on in your head.

Yes you are entitled to your own feelings.I used to think everybody elses opinion was better than mine, now I know to listen to myself as well as others.

Eorl- I am not sure, but I believe that it was Abe Lincoln who said, " A person is as happy as he makes up his mind to be." I think that whomever said it, the thought has a lot of wisdom.

Each person reacts differentially to the same situation, based on the individual's personality, his evaluation of previous life experiences, and his outlook on life.

My answer: yes. But note that others may disagree with it and they are entitled to their own feelings. I belive it was Rouseaou who said, "I disagree with your beliefs but fight to death for your right to believe." Something along those lines

you have feelings, some you want and some you don't want. you are entitled to keep the ones you like, but sometimes you don't recognize that feeling that is blocking out better feelings, or you mistakenly think that you like that feeling better than another one. so of course you can feel what you choose to feel, the real question is can you identify if that is the right thing to feel and/or at the right time. good luck.

I use to be a very religious person, I believed in Jeus as the son of God. lately i fell out of that happening and went on with my own belief. I really don't consider it a belief but basically i believe life is what YOU make it. Nothing like a "higher" source or prayer or anything is going to alter your life. the only thing that will alter your future, moods, beliefs, happiness and etc is yourself. Your life is what you make it, the decisions you make will affect you forever.

You'll have your feelings whether or not you are entitled to them. Ergo, the question is purely academic.
