Well, I'm not a member of this church any longer but we still get all the mail and requests for donations. This came yesterday... good grief. Has anyone else received a letter like this? What has the church come to?

Quote:
To the Parishioners of...

Greetings in the Lord!

As your Archbishop, I have the special responsibility of ...

We also have a tradition and history of allowing priests from other parts of the world to minister in this Archdiocese. Father B. has been your priest administrator since XXX, and I know you are wondering what has happened to him and why he has been absent from the parish this past month.

Please be assured that Father B. has not been accused of sexual abuse or misconduct with a minor or of doing anything illegal. However a recent assessment of his use of the internet calls into question his ability to minister in the Archdiocese with trust and authority. I, therefore, have asked Father B to return to his home diocese in xxx.

I have asked my Vicar for Clergy...

May the Peace and Grace...

With warmest regards and wishes, I remain

Sincerely yours...

Is the archbishop trying to stop rumors or to start them?

Boy, Noddy, I'm sure he is trying to squelch rumors and probably keep anyone from thinking there has been a child in the community who was molested. I assume he is also trying to explain what has happened... but so much is left to my vivid imagination.

Strange letter though, huh? I'd normally have recycled it unread but this one happened to get opened.

And all he did was post to A2K!

Why don't they just say he's moved on for personal reasons? I mean, a molested child would get out really fast so I assume that no one knows of any recent child molestation....

Maybe they felt compelled to be completely truthful? Maybe some things had leaked out? I dunno. Like I said, it's weird.

How close are you to Spokane?

Maybe he was hooking up with Jim West!

There's nothing anywhere that I could find on the 'net. We're having a "Blessing of the Fleet" here in two days -- it is a really big deal. This priest is still being advertised as doing the blessing. Surely the city knows about this awkwardness. Geez.

Maybe he was posting people's confessions on his blog.

"Vicar in a Tutu" by The Smiths was the first thing to enter my mind.

I don't know this, but it sounds interesting.

Still nothing noted in either newspaper the local weekly or the nearby daily. Guess a lot of other people don't read their archdiocese mail either.

If this only affected one congregation, I am amazed that a letter would be sent at all. In my church, something like this would be handled by a visit to the congregation where the congregation would be advised of the situation after the service. Details would most certainly not be discussed...
It might just be mentioned that Priest xxxxx will now be located in xxxxx

If they think he did something improper, why is he going to another congregation? This whole thing.... in the words of another poster..... seem weird.

Really, Neo... drove your truck into a ditch because I scooped 'em, y'mean? Or just the shock of it all?

I guess I'll go check their website.

Intrepid -- I think the whole darn thing is weird and I'm shocked... shocked!!!... that I didn't hear about this through the everpresent local grapevine.

Haha. No, but I thought their frog was cute. I'm going to change it today. I found a really, really cute puppy.

The puppy wouldn't fit -- it's 8KB, darn it, but I'll show it to you.
