can you guess what happened??

The guy is in a hot air balloon, with other French stamp collectors travelling through the desert. The balloon starts losing altitude and in an effort to gain height, the passengers start throwing all their belongings - including the clothes they are wearing over the side.

This doesn't work, so they "draw straws" using (match) sticks to see who has to jump over the side. The guy loses, and died when he hit the ground, still holding the ?'short stick'.

He came across a hive of bees and they attacked. He took off his clothing because the bees got underneath and he beat himself to death with the stick, trying to smack the bees with it.

another unsolved mistery.......
a man gets out of jail,goes down to the train station,buys a ticket,gets on the train.A few stops later a woman gets on & sits down opposite him,take her gloves off hat etc.... the man goes mad & strangles her to death..............at the next stop the man is arrested but is set free half an hour later.
Why did he kill the woman? why was he set free?

I think I prefer this answer to the real one

This must be the ?'clue' He has already served time for the woman's murder, although no body was found at the time of conviction. So when he did really kill her, nothing could be done as you can't be found guilty twice for the same crime
