Déjà-vu?

What do you think? I'm sure everyone here experienced deja-vus at least once. I for one had some that really freaked me out.

What do you think they are? Simply the proof that life is boring, that it never really changes and that we are bound to go through similar situations over and over again? In other words, a glitch in the brain that causes it to mistake the present for the past.

Could there be more to it? What could be the explanation when an experience is completely new and yet we still have the feeling of deja-vu?

Although only slightly related to the above, I'm going to ask about dreams as well. Specifically about recurring dreams. I've had recurring dreams over time periods of even 6-7 years.

So what's your take on all this?
There are many theories out there but it's more interesting to see what people actually thinkĀ…

I've experienced presque vu before . . .

At the moment, though, i'm feeling a distinct sense of jamais vu . . .

Actually, a strict sense of jamais vu would suggest that i were far from "sane" . . .

At any event, i am fervently grateful to find anyone who would so describe me . . . but then, you may get to know me, and i'm sure, will not make that mistake again . . .

I find it hard to really define deja vu. (I'm forgeting the fancy accents.) I have dreams pretty often, I just don't remember them lots of the time. Not because i'm the type of preson to not rmeember dreams, but because I forget stuff really often. Anyway, a lot of the time something will happen and I'll realize, "hey, that wa that one dream I had that one time. I just didn't remember it until now." I have dreams that really happen. Does that count as Deja vu? (an almost rhetorical question)

I don't really think it's either of those. I think we won't really know what Deja vu is really. Maybe we'll never know. I think that, like a lot of tangible/probable things, Deja vu is simply ourselves trying to tell ourselves things about things that aren't ourselves (although sometimes the things are about ourself). does that make any sense to you? it almost doesn't make sense to myself. Smile
picture that our brain is a radio, and all we can hear is all that we can understand and comprehend. We can understand things that we didn't understand in the past, just as we can hear things we've never heard before. Also, we can understand songs better in the future, even if we understand them already. Also, there are things we'll never understand, and never hear. So I think that all the things we don't understand are like different radio stations we just can't tune into. So also, MY POINT FINALLY (yay!) is that I think Deja vu is just little samples of songs we haven't heard yet, and we wont understand the samples until we hear the whole song. Smile
