Religion the Great Divider
Neologist wrote, "Didn't Hitler believe he was somehow going to establish the 1000 year reign mentioned in revelation, the third reich?
He had the cooperation of the Catholic and Lutheran clergy. "
Actually, not all of them, Neo: for example, Bishop Von Galen preached against the euthanasia program, and 1/2 of the Lutheran Church officially dissented, forming the Bekennende Kirche (the "Confessing Church"). As early as 1934, there were Lutheran pastors who put out a document exposing Nazism as a false religion (to this day, most Germans don't recognize it as that; bec. it wore political camouflage, they don't "see" the true nature of it).
And yes, Hitler's was one of the various millenarian/chiliastic movements in history (the difference between them and his is that they were localized, whereas his was national).
