Is aid, an evil?

Some official aid projects to developing countries have been highly successful. Some have been very unsuccessful. Virtually all aid projects fall within a large continuum of of success or uselessness. Most projects are successful and unsuccessful to varying degrees.

Some coutnries have utilized aid much better than others. For example, some Asian nations have grown signifcantly richer in the past 50 years. Likewise, aid had helped much of Western Europe recover from World War II. There are also plenty of examples where aid had been squandered.

In shot, aid is neither evil or good in itself. It depends on how it is administered. In most cases, it has both positive and negative impacts on the recipients.

Perhaps it is the type of aid provided coupled with the underlying philosophy and culture receiving the aid that determines it's helpfulness. I've seen people that were given aid, and they got themselves out of the rut they were in. Others receive aid and it dooms them to being dependent on it. In my opinion, aid can only be benificial to broke people, not poor people since "Broke" is temporary and "Poor" is a state of mind. Donald Trump has been broke before (and received aid), but he's never been poor. The only real way to help poor people is to somehow infuse them with the realization, motive, and determination to become broke. Then you can give them aid and find it was an investment rather than a waste.
