Has anyone seen the above? Go to that site, click on "Satellite" (images).

Enter your home address. Zoom in. Can you see your car in the driveway? Enter your work address. Enter your friend's address. Enter your last 4 addresses....its all there.

The implications of this are rather mind-boggling. This is the free version, the version that they are putting out for free, for general public use.

Obviously we are getting close to a place where we could have your entire life posted on real time video in a computer room somewhere. Save your entire life on a hard drive. The implications are staggering.
Not that anyone is really working that hard on this technology to push it forward.

I've read they currently have satellites cameras that have the ability to read a license plate from space, if it was facing up. What does this mean for humanity?

Could it bring us one step closer to an Orwellian world? How hard would it be to implant us with a mini-GPS chip, have a satellite with video camera track us, and record all actions on digital video somewhere? In fact, we could be tracking 6 billion people at once, and have all their movements posted to the Internet, real time.

We might not be able to do this at this very moment. But I don't think its much of a leap to think this is very doable within 10 years or so, should someone decide to devote the resources to it.

I am thinking this is a great tool.

But somehow if we are able to record our entire lifetime's movements, our entire earthly existence recordable 24/7-365 days/year, it seems like something is gained, but something is lost.

Its like: I suppose it was great when the entire "known world" was mapped, surveyed, staked out, etc. But then again, it seems like a little something was lost. A little room for mystery & myth was squeezed out. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing.

Do you think having a camera that can watch us 24/7 and record all of our living activities will change the collective psyche of humanity?
Do we have a need for mystery that is being erased?

Like right now I have to use the bathroom. I hope they don't follow me in there. I'm not paranoid. Really. I'm not. They are!

Implications?

You would have to feel sorry for the watchers don't you think.Somebody would have to watch them to make sure they didn't go mad with boredom or information overload or even sleeping on the taxpayer's time. That last would be scandalous?

You could maybe watch for that class bint going to the supermarket and maybe accidentally arrange to bump into her at the checkout or the toffee-apple dispenser.

If I wouldn't do something while I'm being watched I probably shouldn't do it in private.

As long as the law is just we have nothing to fear from this...

As long as the law is just?

When was that?

Also...

The images of my work and neighborhood are about 3 years old.

Just thought I would share.

Don't worry.

We have updated photos in our secret files. Also the photos there are much more close-up---did you notice your hairline has been receding over the past few years? We have. (this is all on a website, but it is restricted--you are not allowed in--sorry).

So when you are in your private moments with your significant other and when you're using the restroom, and when you're kissing your kids goodnight, you won't mind of course if we watch? Twisted Evil

Hey-it turned out good after we messed about a bit.

We went to Google maps and now all our delivery problems are solved.Thanks.We aren't interested in watching amateur nookie. There's 10 Euro channels on 24 hrs with the professionals.Perhaps you can watch us watching them. That should really make your day.
You would probably be better monitoring heavy vehicle movements in N Korea providing climatic conditions are favourable of course.

Okay, I'll get right on that. Twisted Evil

um...what time do you usually watch? And I'll let my friends know so they can watch me watching you watch them. Its great.

Well, until I hear your answer I'll focus on monitoring North Korea.

I can't work out how far your tongue is in your cheek.

If I was serious, just to see what being serious is like ya dig,I would opine that the general public will not have access to the sort of detail suggested.

What I meant by "amateur nookie" was the daily doings of J Doe.I would have no interest in that. The Euro channels referred to are porn channels and they have movies which are copyrighted and have Library of Congress numbers.
They are pretty hot stuff.I am even bored with that.
Although the general psychological milieux is interesting to a scientific mind.

How are you using the word "friends"?

It is a great tool though and will help push capitalism even further ahead.Maybe only 0.0001% but for a man who "begrudges every drop of water which passes the millwheel" that is a plus.

Thanks and best wishes.
