I was happy to see people replying to my first thread so i thought id ask another question that has bothered me.

Last year i took a psychology class exploring human cognitive behavior. One subject in particular i liked was dreams. I always thought it would be a great job to analyze dreams because as long as you have some creativity in you, you can convince a person anything to be true with their dreams and make good money. Anyways one day i saw a blind man standing on the side of the road with his trusty walking stick waiting for the light to turn so he could cross and i thought: I wonder what blind people dream about? Now if they turned blind later in life i could imagine they have something to dream about, but what about the people that have always been blind? I think they would dream about sounds or just abstract images of what they think objects look like. I guess i won't get to hear any blind peoples reactions on this forum....no pun intended Laughing But man would i pay alot of money for technology that could record a blind persons dream and replay it on tv. If anyone knows anything about my question please let me know. I havn't found anyone that has researched this topic

That is an interesting thought. Because unless they are unable to communicate any other way, they should have "shape-memories" of objects or people. I confess ignorance on the abilities of blind people to "visualize" (analogy for holding an idea of an object in your mind). I certainly have dreams where I hear things, but mostly they are classic visual scenes.

My understanding is that dreams are mostly random firings of neurons that cause other connected neurons to fire. Since our brain is wired physically to form associations, storylines appear out of the randomness. It stands to reason that blind people would at least "hear" or "feel" their dreams. An informal search on Google seems to back up this hypothesis.

Quite fascinating to imagine what that would be like. I enjoy the way you think, Discreet.

Your problem here is that you seem to under the impression that there is a single cause of blindness. There is not, rather there are many both physical and neurological. Even hysterical. These differences will strongly impact the nature of their dreams.

As a general societal rule, we don't mention this sort of thing in public. During the course of a philosophical discussion, comments like this are likely to make the audience or fellow debaters lose respect for you.

If you are attempting to be humourous, a quick tip would be that brief asides regarding bodily functions, etc, aren't going to be especially funny unless you find a way to relevantly link it into the story.

In "robin hood men in tights" the character Blinkin, a blind servant, was masturbating to an embossed contour map of a naked woman. Sort of a braille three dimensional drawing, interesting idea I thought.
