MIKE POST was my all time favorite theme writer (Rockford Files, Hill St Blues etc).
My all time fav TV theme is his NYPD BLUE, the blending of the music with the track sound of the subway was just pure genius (IMHO)

I watched an episode of NYPD Blue the other night. It was the episode in which Sipowitz slaps a perp around for not cooperating.

@edgarblythe,
I remember that opening scene from Branded.

There seemed to be so much going on, and it always left me so sad. Can't remember the actual episodes though.

These 2 were my absolute FAVORITE shows when I was a kid.

Dig the kooky calypso beat of Gigantor.
I love how Jimmy Sparks controls this space age robot with a joystick.

Spoiler Alert. It was such a shock to me when I learned Racer X was Speeds brother. Mind blown.

Many of these shows have good opening themes, but the episodes are mediocre. Gilligan's Island is a good idea, but it doesn't take long to tire of the routine.

Gigantor looks lik a tick. I never sw that show. The only time I think I heard the name was when Owen Wilson was calling Ben Stiller "Gigantor" in "Night at the Museum"

@farmerman,
BBC series ran from 71 to 80 about James Onedin and his struggles to keep a shipping company afloat in Liverpool in the 1800's.
Peter Gilmore plays a gruff tough Onedin.

A good show but could be a bit dated now.

There's episode 1. Wet your whistle.

Compulsive viewing.

@farmerman,
My parents loved it when I was a kid. I wasn't that bothered, but I was a kid.

Make of that what you will.

I used to love David Attenborough's 1979 Life On Earth opening credits that used Alan Parson's 'In The Lap Of The Gods' - but can't find it anywhere.

You have to fast forward to 1:45 to hear the bit they used.

Re the Wyatt Earp theme song....

When I was born, my brothers wanted to name me Wyatt Earp. Laughing

My mother said the nurses were calling me Wy-etta

Gigantor rocked.

He only helped out when Jimmy Sparks activated him. Even when he was activing in service of Jimmy, I always felt like he could turn on him and every other member of the team at any time, and smash them to smithereens.

I didn't trust him for squat. That was cool.
