Tub/shower fauct repair

Any tricks to getting this faucet apart? I can't get the outer ring to turn.

The copper (I think) pipe which the spout fits on has this plastic threaded piece on the end. I don't know where this came from. The inside of the spout look intact.

The faucet probably has rust. You'll need to change it. I think you should contact a handyman to help you with faucet repair.

If you have a compression style faucet then try this before calling a handyman. By using slip joint pliers, remove the bonnet from the faucet base. After that remove the valve stem. But make sure you are turning it clockwise while unscrewing. Now you can replace rings.
