They are increasing complaints/concerns that they may be pushing the competition out.

Tesco leapt in sales and profits when they went heavily into electrical goods. These are high numbers of £ per unit (£200 T.V as opposed to 30p Baked beans) sold, and the profit margins are higher than groceries.

It would be interesting to see what share of the pure grocery market they have nowadays, taking the electrical stuff out of the equation.

If anything, I think Tesco will damage companies like Curry's, Dixon's and other such retailers, rather than their competitors in the pure grocery market.

I should point that that that £1 in £3 is the amount spend at supermarkets

Tesco amount for £1 in every £7.50 spend in high street.

Is TESCO a subsidiary of Wal-mart? It sure sounds that way!
This seems to be a familiar trend in the world these days...one competitor making it in the spotlight with all the right products and services...they last a few years and then become defunct. Has TESCO always been the super power it has been or is that recent.

The last time I lived in the UK (about 12-15 years ago) I don't remember seeing/hearing too much about it. Then again I was quite young....

Tesco has been around a long time; I'm sure I saw a big one in Liverpool 25 years ago...
