Carlos Castaneda: Enigma of a Sorcerer

Just saw this movie, was really disappointed by the low-level magical powers the guy seemed to be into, his apparent selfishness and desire for fame, his "harem of witches," etc.

Prior, when the only knowledge I had of him was through his books, I had completely different ideas about him.

I know there was a 60s UCLA/LA crowd on here awhile back, and I know of some of you are still here!

Did anyone here ever run in his circles or have opinions on the teachings, etc?

(The movie basically made the argument that Don Juan was not real, that Carlos had created the figure for his purposes).

Another case of how one can love the art, but not necessarily like the artist, I suppose.

Can't say I ran with the man or knew anyone who did, but I admit to having bought into his premise back then. Heck, I was pretty credulous about a lot of things then. A lot of us were. Now it does seems like a scam on his part...
