I don't get it...

The Top 10 Reason NOT to Go See the Pope

10- Didn't know him personally.
9- It's a million miles away.
8- You may have to wait for 24 hours to see him.
7- It's much harder now for him to bestow blessing on you.
6- He wasn't embalmed. (ick.)
5- Again, he wasn't embalmed. Icky Pic
4- I had to stay home with Eorl to wash my hair.
3- He's dead. He has no idea you've come.
2- I can't afford a flight to Rome.

And the #1 reason to NOT go see the pope is....
1- Standing in line with all those weird, religious freaks...no thanks.

It keeps our attention away from World and National affairs so they can do their dirty work fairly unencumbered.

Love the reason,I like the idea of being part of history tho.

My parents went to Dianas funeral. In a paper the next day was an overhead picture of the crowds and my parents were in it, I kept the paper.

Its gona be a biggun that will dominate the day.

It was so strange to see news footage of the crowds. They were there ,with the Pope looking at him through a phone camera or video camera.I just kept thinking 'your there, you waited hours to see him, so look at him through your own eyes!!'There will always be plenty of documented pictures to look at him in the future.

Roger,what do you suggest?Pope on a rope?

Whatever your thoughts of the event, it is grand spectacle - likely the largest assemblage of people in one location for a single event in history, more world leaders than ever have been assembled in one place in history, the most broadly telecast event in history. And whatever you think of The Roman Catholic Church, them folks sure know how to do capital-S "SHOW".

Still, not bein' fond either of cities or crowds, I wouldn'ta gone if I'd been offered good pay to go there. I'm watchin' it on TV, though.

I heard Bush will be face to face with 'undesirable' Iraqi leaders at the funeral.

I started dreaming about being there, awoke and realized the funeral was taking place on the tv that had been left on.

I then stayed awake to watch. I thought it amazing for the world leaders to have to turn and wish each other peace.

They said Putin wasn't there, but other than that ir looked like the world was present. Anyone know about Castro? Did he attend?

That's too bad. Would have been a nice showing since the Pope had gone to Cuba not so long ago.

Carter should have been invited. May have been limited seating, or out of protocal, but seems he would have been the natural one to represent the US.

And the Pope criticised the US for the ongoing embargo against Cuba.
