How Can I Get Notifications For Message Requests In Facebook On My Android Phone

I cannot seem to find out if it is possible to get a notification in Facebook messenger for Message Requests. They seem to get filtered out and I need to always remember to look in the message requests area to find out if there are any. It is very annoying.
