So, as for a logo - how about something that predates strife? Too bad the hooked cross (swastika) has gotten such a bad rap. Is this istitoot going to be focused on the subasian area? Aren't elephants considered lucky or peaceful?
dagmaraka wrote:one note though: i hate globes, pigeons, and branches of bayleaves - all those symbols that two out of the three international organizations have in their logos. i want to be different, yet not to the point that the logo is too confusing. you know?
is anything to do with hands too cliche?
(they seem borderline to me, but maybe there's something new to do with them)
ahhh, just saw a hand in what l'k posted
ummm, i think i'll stay away from swastikas... i know they are symbols of light and peace, but most people don't.
logos of heads, hands, and somesuch are better than globes and pigeons, but it still makes me, you know, fidgety. i don't know what i want. but looking for symbols is a good idea. am going to go look at some.
beth, yes, the contents of the website are getting completely chucked. new text should be coming up tomorrow or day after. but while we're at it, i want to get ideas on design, too.
been wandering.....
what about trees? Lotuses?
the bottom one is good. lotuses? what do lotuses signify?
peace, I think, but in a buddhist sort of way.
"If the logo was done right, it can include Institute, Mediation, and Reconciliation"
.... wich can also acronym out to MIR (mediation, institute, reconciliation) and that's a word you considered using.....
I played around with your great photo a bit and came up with....
How 'bout serendipity somethingorother, for a new name. Sounds neat, suggests a lot, and luckily, not every knows what it means. I don't, but it has a nice sound to it.
oh that looks pretty. yes, i picked MIR precisely because it can spell all those things.
boomer, i like the conversion of the picture. i still have to figure out what to do with it exactly. roger, i think we'll just call ourselves 'Serenity now!"
A cool word that means "peace" or "serenity"
Definitions of ataraxis:
noun: the absence of mental stress or anxiety
There's the possibility of the usual red circle with a slash through the offending thing... in this case, the word HATE.
A bit of a negative image, and not at all catchy.
Made me start to think of things like Past Hate, Passed Hate, Walk over Hate. Hands Past Hate.
Nah.
But serenity, serendipity, peace, etc. are, er, sort of yawners, as words if not in reality.
and they sound like a diagnosis... dunno. I am thinking of something like Shantih (peace or harmony in Hindi) or Mir or whatnot...dunno
MIR is too space stationish for me.
ah yeh, there's that. damn those russians.
It's nice because the space station is a joint international effort, but it is taken, really.
