Is it possible A2K could have a topic devoted strictly to psychology on the Forum Index page.

There is so much information pertaining to psychology, I believe it would and will host a variety of thread topics and discussions that would greatly benefit A2k and others.

Thanks for reading.

IMO, psychology cuts across many fields. You could have one kind of thread in "Relationships", and another in "Medical News and Health". Why don't you compose a few, and see if there is a lot of interest. I'll bet that there is!

I am not an administrator, but am simply putting my 2 Cents worth as an old A2Ker!

Thats exactly why it should be in it's own arena, psychology is so diverse and multifaceted.

Click on the medical news and health forum, the majority of threads pertain to physical ailments, anything psychological could easily get buried or missed.

The range and diversity of psychology is so broad, I think it constitutes it's own spot on the home page. And I think it would draw in specialists which would make A2K a richer place. "Build it and they will come"

Here are some topics I would be interested in discussing-

1. How does one choose a therapist. (i know the answer, but some people don't) Where would that get put, relationships, or medical news, general? It dosen't fit in any of those categories.

2. How to keep the mind healthy. (i have my own methods, but others don't)

3. Neurotransmitters, and their relation to synapse, if there is one.

4. How to deal with stress. I feel as though stress comes from the minds inability to properly handle situations, again, another matter of the mind.

5. Recognizing improper coping skills.

I'm not going to start threads on these topics until they have a place to call home.

Well, see what the powers-that-be have to say about it. It's their call, and does involve changes in the website coding!

Paula, psychology was once a part of philosophy, but broke away in order to create a discipline that could be measured. My advice is to post in the philosophy forum.

I believe philososphy has much to do with the state of the mind, but they are seperate disciplines, and have seperate specialists.

Who in philosophy can speak in depth about neurotransmitters? Alright we have Thomas, but who else?

I want to draw more specialist to A2K. If I had my way, I would choose Daniel N. Robinson, Ph. D. I would shine this man's boots :-)

This is a better link.

Well, Paula. You just answered your own question. My word, there are so many areas of psychology, but basically they are all an offshoot of philosophy. I think I did a thread on psychology in the philosophy category. My area of concentration was in the psychology of learning, but I became acquainted with many areas.

I need to take some time to review your links.

How come?

They look interesting to me!

There have been a few polls and the overwhelming majority of regular A2Kers don't pay attention to forums/ categories anyway. They go by "new posts".

Here's where I'd put 'em, FYI, Many are not an exact fit, but good enough (see above about forum really not mattering much):

1= relationships and marriage. Therapy keeps coming up there.

2= Medical news and Health

3= Science and Mathematics

4= Seems related to 2, same place

5= Seems related to 2 and 4, same place

They are interesting, but some of my topics are off-the-beaten-path, like this one-

http://www.able2know.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=1229932#1229932

I'm not sure where to put some of my topics, but now that I think of it, the moderators will move them to a proper place if need be, nods to the moderators.

I could google for my info, but I like the A2K interaction so much more than searching, perhaps I should search on my own and bring the info back here. When I go on a search, I can get sidetracked SO easily, (perhaps that is something i should work on) that it seems best to stay grounded at A2K. I'm still learning Smile

Thank you for the suggestions, I appreciate them.
