In the storm of 1897 six 14-year old children (4 girls) get stranded on a uninhabited island. They made a deal with the island Gods. The Gods make sure that all inhabitant are well, and that every girl get a child when they're 20. After that, they get another child every ten years. In return the Gods want that every 42 year old member of the colony has to commit suicide. The grandchildren of the original 6 people are infertile.
When will the colony get extinct?
The youngest children of the original group are born when their mothers are 40. That's in 1923. We'll assume some are girls, some are boys, or there will be no next generation.
Their youngest children (the third generation on the island) are born when they reach 40, so that's in 1973.
These people are infertile, and will die at age 42. That's in 2015.
They've got 10 years... Coincidentally, this year, every one except the youngest group will be dead.

1923 + 40 = 1963 and not 1973
Ignoring gestation periods, this year.
The original girls will give birth to their last children in 1923. Those children will have their last children in 1963. Those grandchildren will die at 42 in 2005.
