Sydney - Kirsty Marshall, an Olympic aerial skier turned Australian MP, was given a rude introduction to arcane political conventions on Wednesday when she was ejected from the chamber of the Victoria state parliament for breast-feeding her baby.
You go, girl! Though I can't imagine anyone even attempting this feat in our hallowed halls...
Maybe, parliamentary hall is not the best place for breast-feeding. There are certain physiologic activities of human body that are not being performed on public. These activities are quite natural, and there is nothing wrong in performing these, but they require certain privacy; IMHO, breast-feeding is one of them. It has nothing to do with Mr. John Ashcroft, this is just a norm of decent behavior.
BTW, many of the liberal members here defend rights of religious Muslims, Hindus, pagans, etc. to live in accordance with their beliefs. And what if Mr. Ashcroft is a religious Christian, and he believes that naked female breasts must not appear in the halls of the court of justice?
Heehee - baby was ejected for being a "stranger" - strangers not being permitted on the floor of the house.
Baby could have been fed in the speaker's gallery, or the strangers' gallery.
Baby has occupied much of front pages as light relief from Iraq, one assumes - also person to whom booby and baby was attached is comely - 'twas her first day in parliament! Forsooth, she had a baby from her belly before ever she had seat for her bottom!
Ejected for feeding her baby?
The biggest boobs were not on the lady!
