can anyone please give me a simplistic overview of eros philia agape. Nothing too philosophical needed. Thanks
eros--sexual love
philia--brotherly love--in the Bible, I think it refers to love of Christians for one another--which they seem to denote as more special or a deeper bond than other brotherly love.
agape--the love each of us--mankind--should have for one another. A universal love.
I thought the philia didn't look right. My references have it as phileo.
eros phileo agape
Lash, Thank you for keeping it simple, Prescott
Philia- the love men tell women they have when they actually have eros.
Also, I wish english had those same distinctions. I hate how pop singers and rappers always use the word love when they mean " a ****" or "lust" . Try it. Listen to any pop song and replace the word love with either " a chance to **** you" or " a ****" and you'll see how it works.
"Gamble anything for love"
" You should let me love you"
Try it and see
