@Region Philbis,
It's a Beautiful Day's version of White Bird was 1968.
Did you mean that about this song or another?

@Region Philbis,
Joe Cocker recorded this song in 1968, butthe performance I posted from Youtube was at Woodstock however in 1969. A tad confusing, I know.

Hell, anyone can do that. How about simply relying on tunes you actually remember from the time, or if you're younger, "oldies" that appeal to you?

I hadn't even thought of that Gene Pitney song for half a century but I remembered where I was at the time, what was playing on the radio, did a search, brought it up, and re-heard it for the first time in 50 years.

Yes.

The lists that I linked could jog someone's memory of a song that is worthwhile that they aren't thinking of.

I don't remember 1968, and I wouldn't have any idea what specific year most oldies were from.

There do seem to some good songs on those lists that haven't been posted yet. If I'm in the mood sometime and they haven't been posted yet, maybe I'll post some of them.

Or maybe I'll just leave it to you guys to use the resource that I provided you, or not use it, as you see fit.

@Ragman,
Some songs released in 1967 had their greatest run in 1968. To me that means they can be included with 68 songs.

@edgarblythe,
Something silent from 1968 (I had hoped, my sister could have it done without sound, too!)

@Walter Hinteler,
But what can you expect of someone (speaking about my sister), who liked this? Very Happy

@edgarblythe,
Yup. I'm fine with it all. I'm casual with it ...either 1968 or 1969. I saw it was recorded in 1968 and figured I could skate.

Remember, like they said about the '60s (and Woodstock), "if you can remember it, then you weren't there."

@Sturgis,
And a little bit of Janis...

"Piece of My Heart" is a romantic funk/soul love song written by Jerry Ragovoy and Bert Berns, originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967.

The song came to greater mainstream attention when Big Brother and the Holding Company (featuring Janis Joplin on lead vocals) covered the song in 1968 and had a much bigger hit with it. The song has since been remade by several singers, including Dusty Springfield on her 1968 album Dusty... Definitely, Bryan Ferry on his solo debut album These Foolish Things in 1973, Faith Hill in 1994 and Melissa Etheridge in 2005.

In 2004, the Big Brother and the Holding Company version was ranked number 353 on Rolling Stone's list of the 500 Greatest Songs of All Time. The song is also included among The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 500 Songs that Shaped Rock and Roll.
