Why are we still using this phrase to report on tragedies?

This is from NPR last week. Children are special because they are innocent and helpless; their deaths are especially tragic. Women are adults.

It's all part and parcel of the US propaganda mill, Max. But you already know this.

Why no mention of the US illegal invasion of Syria, US support for terrorism against Syria, US terrorism against Syria?

All this is a special kind of evil that the world has never before seen so why on Earth do so many seem to embrace it, even celebrate it?

Tens of thousands die, hundreds of thousands die, millions die and Americans ask totally inane questions.
