It looks like you're trying to counteract seasickness in that pic.

No. I hope I can upload the whole of the picture in a few weeks.
(I do not have the original print at hand currently.)

Not seasickness, sunbathing, (and chilling out) although it was too cold where we were to take the jacket off. Smile

It was in the Western Isles, off the Scottish coast.

Well that's amazing. I didn't know you could do that. What's the latitude and longitude? Smile The other picture, taken by a shipmate, maye have been further east than I said...I can't quite remember where that snooze was taken. Maybe it was before we got among the Hebrides.

Well, for digital cameras, it is a default behavior to record the date-time, and some cameras write the GPS data in files. I couldn't identify GPS data in your photo file. Laughing

Yes but, the photo was stored in a remote server and I don't know how to get such data out. The basic procedure of [RIGHT CLICK- PROPERTIES] does not give date and time. How is it done?

You can read the EXIF in the photo file..

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/EXIF
Quote:
The metadata tags defined in the Exif standard cover a broad spectrum including:
Date and time information. Digital cameras will record the current date and time and save this in the metadata.
Camera settings. This includes static information such as the camera model and make, and information that varies with each image such as orientation, aperture, shutter speed, focal length, metering mode, and film speed information.
Location information, which could come from a GPS receiver connected to the camera. As of 2004 only a few cameras support this, though. Some people therefore use a normal receiver to track their movements, and then post-process the images by matching the timestamps in the images with the log from the receiver and can so add the missing information to images.
Descriptions and copyright information. Again this is something which is most often done when post-processing the images, as only high-end camera models let the user choose a text for these fields. (Although this feature is becoming more and more apparent even in lower end compact digital cameras).

walter :
great pictures - thanks for posting !

btw i enjoy looking at "pictures at night " from around the world via the german weather website wetter.com
this particular site is for 'hamburg' and the webcam 'button' is on the upper right side ;
you can pretty well enter any city on the upper left to search for the weather and webcam .
i sometimes spent some time being a 'world-traveller' just looking at sites from around the world .
btw i find the web pictures via wetter.com are usually superior to those on other (private) websites .

of course i can also look at pictures of daytime sights Laughing

I will have to come back to go through previous posts (many say "image" but don't link). Anyhow, if this works, this is me:
