Damn. Windows shattered my Valentine so I patching it up with glass glue and trying again:

My funny valentine,
Sweet comic valentine,
You make me smile with your heart.

Your lips are laughable,
Unphotographable,
Yet you're my favorite work of art.

(bridge)
Are your features less than Greek
Is your mouth a little weak,
When you open it to speak,
Are you smart?

Don't change a hair for me,
Not if you care for me,
Stay little Valentine, stay.
Each day is Valentine's day.

a smile of remembrance.

Speaking of dripping sex, how about Love To Love You by Donna Summers?

I'd have to have some Rod Stewart (All For Love), Lionel Richie (Truly, Stuck on You) and Billy Joel (Honesty, Just the Way You Are.)

I know, i know. I'm not much of a rocker, but Bear does the crooning thing much better than he will ever admit, and that's what I prefer for a romantic evening.

She's Always A Woman To Me...how can such a romantic guy get dumped by a super-model...I mean look at Ric Ocasek ...he's still with his SM isn't he? No romance from the Cars.

ENGELBERT HUMPERDINCK lyrics - "After The Lovin'"

So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
With a song I just wrote yesterday
And I hope you can hear
What the words and the music have to say

It's so hard to explain
Everything that I'm feelin'
Face to face I just seem to go dry
But I love you so much
That the sound of your voice can get me high

Thanks for takin' me
On a one way trip to the sun
And thanks for turnin' me
Into someone

So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry

And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you

So I sing you to sleep
After the lovin'
I brush back the hair from your eyes
And the love on your face
Is so real that it makes me want to cry

And I know that my song
Isn't sayin' anything new
Oh, but after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you

Yes, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you
Hmmm, after the lovin'
I'm still in love with you

"Sometimes I Dream" - by Mario Frangoulis. He's a Greek Tenor, but you don't have to be an opera fan to appreciate his music. This song is so romantic (it's his voice) it makes my eyelids heavy. A must listen!

Sometimes I dream
I'm lost in time,
where heroes go
and no one speaks
in broken words,
and lovers aren't afraid to know
each breath that calls,
each star that falls,
an angel
dies to be alive.
Am I dreaming
or am I in love?

E lucevan le stelle... .......................and the stars were shining
Ed olezzava la terra........................and the earth smelled sweet
Stridea l'uscio dell'orto....................the garden gate creaked
E un passo sfiorava la rena.............her footsteps barely touched the path
Entrava ella, fragrante,...................She came in, so fragrant
Mi cadea fra le braccia....................and fell into my arms

Sometimes I dream
a dream so real
I am deceived.
The curtains part.
The stars reveal
a story that I must believe.
They turn a page,
they see a stage
and wonder
who they gaze upon.
Am I dreaming,
or dying for love

O, doici baci, o languide carezze,.............what sweet kisses, slow and gentle caresses
Mentr'io fremente...................................while trembling, I released
Le belle forme disciogliea dai veli!............the lovely face from its veil!
Svani per sempre il sogno mio d'amore....My dream of love is gone forever
L'ora e fuggita........................................The hour has flown
E muoio disperato!..................................and I die in despair!
E non ho amato mai................................Yet I've never been
Tanto la vita!..........................................so much in love with life!

Sometimes I dream
Sometimes I dream
Sometimes I dream

Are the stars out tonight
I don't know if it's cloudy or bright
I only have eyes
For you dear
Shoo-wop-shoo-wop

Billy Joel has a great sense of humor and does have a brain,
whereas his super-model was pretty to look at, but awfully dense
otherwise. She still is!

My votes:
Tom Waits: Grapefruit Moon, or Hope that I don't fall in love
Hallelujah by Jeff Buckley
Flaming Lips: What Is the Light?
Some Wilco won't hurt: like 'we're just friends'
Some Son Volt can't be bad either.
Oh, and Whiskeytown, 'Desperate Ain't Lonely' from Faithless Street album. Or an anti-Valentine 'Matrimony is misery'

And now I have one song stuck on my mind. Also Hallelujah, by somebody like Jayhawks or Son Volt - except it's not. But similar band.
Some lyrics:
Lost my heart and soul,
lost my way back home,
lost my will to live,
on my own so long.
Hallelujah, hallelujah,
everybody dreams for you

two suggestions

Prettiest Eyes
The Beautiful South

(Heaton/Rotheray)
Line One is the time
That you, you first stayed over at mine
And we drank our first bottle of wine
And we cried

Line Two we're away
And we both, we both had nowhere to stay
Well the bus-shelter's always OK
When you're young

Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
That you die

Let's take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
Not through the age or the failure, children
Not through the hate or despise
Take a good look at these crows feet
Sitting on the prettiest eyes

Line Three I forget
But I think, I think it was our first ever bet
And the horse we backed was short of a leg
Never mind

Line Four in a park
And the things, the things that people do in the dark
I could hear the faintest beat of your heart
Then we did

Now you're older and I look at your face
Every wrinkle is so easy to place
And I only write them down just in case
You should die

Lets take a look at these crows feet, just look
Sitting on the prettiest eyes
Sixty 25th of Decembers
Fifty-nine 4th of Julys
You can't have too many good times, children
You can't have too many lines
Take a good look at these crows feet
Sitting on the prettiest eyes

Well my eyes look like a map of the town
And my teeth are either yellow or they're brown
But you'll never hear the crack of a frown
When you are here
You'll never hear the crack
Of a frown

There Is A Light That Never Goes Out
The Smiths

Take me out tonight
Where there's music and there's people
And they're young and alive
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one
Anymore

Take me out tonight
Because I want to see people and I
Want to see life
Driving in your car
Oh, please don't drop me home
Because it's not my home, it's their
Home, and I'm welcome no more

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Take me out tonight
Take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
And in the darkened underpass
I thought Oh God, my chance has come at last
(But then a strange fear gripped me and I
Just couldn't ask)

Take me out tonight
Oh, take me anywhere, I don't care
I don't care, I don't care
Driving in your car
I never never want to go home
Because I haven't got one, da ...
Oh, I haven't got one

And if a double-decker bus
Crashes into us
To die by your side
Is such a heavenly way to die
And if a ten-ton truck
Kills the both of us
To die by your side
Well, the pleasure - the privilege is mine

Oh, There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out
There Is A Light And It Never Goes Out

Great Choices, folks

Keane: Somewhere only we know

I walked across an empty land
I knew the pathway like the back of my hand
I felt the earth beneath my feet
Sat by the river and it made me complete

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

I came across a fallen tree
I felt the branches of it looking at me
Is this the place we used to love?
Is this the place that I've been dreaming of?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

---- if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
somewhere only we know?

Oh simple thing where have you gone
I'm getting old and I need something to rely on
So tell me when you're gonna let me in
I'm getting tired and I need somewhere to begin

---- if you have a minute why don't we go
Talk about it somewhere only we know?
This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
So why don't we go

This could be the end of everything
So why don't we go
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?
Somewhere only we know?...

How bout John Cale: Oh Emily (or whatever's the name of the song)
Oh Emily, I'd like to be down by the sea with you, holding hands with you, walking hand in hand, on a shifting sand...maybe we'll love again....
just one of those songs that get stuck in the head. i actually made a valentine's tape once for an ex - it had songs on it from the day we met (i have a musical memory - each song is attached to some occasion, i remember where i heard it first, and each important event in my life has some song attached to it) to the day we split. with a long letter describing each such special occasion. it's the best damn tape on earth.
