@margo,
Another brilliant bit of Oz humour was when the English cricket team were on tour there some years ago captained by Mike Gatting who had a weight problem, so some Aussie jokers painted the word "Gatting" on a pig and let it run across the pitch..Smile

Some of my mates emigrated to Australia in the 1960's, but when I decided to join them many years later I couldn't get an entry permit because they were now only letting skilled tradesmen in , so I let it drop.
If I'd really wanted to get in, I could have gone there on a holiday visa, then either married an Aussie bird so's I could stay permanent, or quietly vanished into the outback and lived like croc dundee for the rest of my days..Smile

@dlowan,
What is promite? It's not listed on the periodic table.

@blatham,
It's an exotic transient lanthanide. Very short half life before it transmutes to vomit.

@hingehead,
Thank you. I'd been left to guessing and figured it might be something you slipped into a girl's drink on prom night.

@blatham,
We're shivering away - winterwise - except hinge, of course, and pondering the immense stupidity and duplicity and down and out greed of politicians.

And wondering how the Wallabies got so comprehensively clobbered by the All Blacks last week when we held them to a draw the week before. This was to be our year!
