@dlowan,
I think something bad happened up the road.....several very excited policevcars went past a while back. Don't want to check the news in case it's a semi ploughed into cars on the freeway.

Funny comment, but I also feel quite sad about time catching up with poor old Fletcher Jones .... inevitable, but sad anyway ....

No wonder they are in receivership. You think they would have had a motorised van by now.

The hottest day (so far) of the summer predicted for today. (40 C degrees)
It's going to be scorcher.
Almost 30 C already in Melbourne close to 10 am.
It'd be much warmer in the country areas in the north of the state.

Let's hope we see nothing like what occurred in country Victoria last summer.
Fingers tightly crossed.
Those hot northerlies are a real worry.
And let's hope police are keeping a close watch on known arsonists.
<sigh>

The Country Fire Authority warns that conditions will become tinder dry today due to hot northerly winds.

A total fire ban has therefore been issued across most of the state today, including in suburban Melbourne where the mercury is forecast to top 40 degrees. ...<cont>

@Dutchy,
I guess we'll just have to keep as cool as possible & keep our fingers crossed that there are no repeats of last year's fires, Dutchy.

Strange,(I think) I read that Sydney has had a pretty cool summer so far, by Sydney standards. Confused

Where would we all be without the weather to complain about? Here in California we say we have two seasons ... mudslides and hill fires.The truth is both coastal California and south Australia have generally very pleasant climates. (Still, 40 deg C ... is very hot).

We'd have absolutely nothing to talk about, George! Smile

I believe my state (Victoria) & southern California share some rather unfortunate bush fire records?

I've been out and about in it. Only 39 C last time I looked. A walk in the park! it's windy in the hills...but still pockets of green. Hope we don't get the big one this year.
