Turkic people had emigrated in a wider area before the mongolian expansion.
You know the wide area called Turkestan (eastern/western) in the central Asia.
Turkic emigration took place mainly a few hundred years before the first year of the Islamic calendar. Records tell that they were in the area far north to the Chinese nothern border before the emigration.
Turkic people entered in the region now called Turkestan (originally persian term, not turkic) after around 4 C.E. then expanded westward.
The main dwellers of the Turkestan before the emigration are said to have been Caucasoids.
