Thin the Herd
The act of playing a song at a club, usually country, that discourages the African American race from remaining on the dance floor. This is due to their lack of interests in songs that don't have a defined "beat" that makes club type dancing possible.
"There are too many black guys on the dance floor, its time to thin the herd and play a country song."
Hi, would anyone explain why "thin the herd" refers to playing a country song to discourage the black?
When used about a group, to thin it is a verb meaning to reduce in number. A farmer thins a herd of cattle by removing the less healthy or older members. The practice described is racist, as are the assumptions behind it.
