Here's an idea...
What if people with like minds all got together on the internet and migrated to a single low-pop state?
They get their own senators. They get a voice in media. They get to run things majorly as they wish, controlling the state gov't, including prisons and laws, what have you.
Amendments to state constitutions.
Control of their own tax codes.
I can see that some might say the like-minded folks would ruin themselves if they got the chance. But I say that would be good... at least then they had their chance and everyone can see why they souldn't have the same mindset as those goons.

First, there is no single low-pop state that would accept be ruled by foreigners.
Second, people with like minds on the internet are not people with like minds in life. Individual interests colide. Personalities colide.
But there is an alternative. Find yourself a low-pop state and a strong mercenary force.
Then, take the power. Then you invite to that state all that internet people you are talking about. Prepare concentration camps. In months you would be able to make them citizens with like minds - excepting those who you will send to concentration camps to die.
I think that would work for some time.
Nice idea but it would't work.
Frank would insist on being President.
spendius.
People of a like mind would mean that there would have to be as many states as there are participants in the project. No matter what government system a country has, the true drive behind it is the goodwill of the people upholding the system. As long as they want to do their jobs all is well. But as soon as they no longer want this, or are no longer satisfied, then problems arise. Monarchy, republic, dictatorship, whatever. All breaks down if the people behind it don't want to cooperate.
Utah was very sparsely populated before Brigham Young moved in with his polygamists.
They've been calling the shots ever since.
binnyboy's speculation isn't merely hypothetical,
Obviously people are different. And people's views are different. I'm not proposing a state where people have uniformity of thought. Just a state with similar thoughts on one issue. A little disagreement is fine. For instance, atheists and agnostics living in peace with each other. And of course, one atheist will be a crazy socialist, while another will be an otherwise normal person. Or we could say with the socialist state, one person may be a christian, and another will be a crazy atheist. Not uniformity of thought. Just similarity of thought.
Val, it doesn't matter what they accept. The laws will undergo DRASTIC changes, and they won't be able to do jack about it. Most will become dissatisfied and move away. And that's too bad. That's a negative aspect of this. But I think the positives will outweigh the negatives.

But in that state, you must have producers and those who own the production. Those who have things, those who haven't. Those who control, those that are controlled. Those who command and those that must obey. You must have police forces. Perhaps an army.
You must have someone to clean the streets.
So, why not stay in our own countries? They already have all that!

I know they do... that's part of the problem.

At the time Brigham Young started his move, Utah was, in fact, a part of Mexico. His flock got there just in time to have his plans to move out of the USA thwarted.
I'm pretty sure this is a George Carlin routine.

I like him. Never heard this one though. But I wouldn't be surprised.
Am I the only person in the US who thinks this is already happening in New Hampshire? It's called the Free State Project, and they're mostly Libertarians.
hmmmmm cool

I guess all I need do is get together a group on the internet and make it a reality huh?
The libertarians did it and they are whacked out. So surely socialists and/or atheists could do it too! I'd go to either of those states!
