Hi, would anyone explain what the "Pong" refers to?

I've looked it up in a dictionary, but don't think any of the definitions there fits in this context.

Pong is one of the earliest arcade video games. It is a table tennis sports game featuring simple two-dimensional graphics. The game was originally manufactured by Atari, which released it in 1972.

I think possibly the writer is thinking of Ping-Pong, another name for table tennis.

The writer is definitely referring to Pong the "original" video game. You can tell by this quote:
