Is ageing and reduction of telomeres directly related? I read that telomeres are caps on chromosomes that protect the genetic informations from being lost but I wonder if human can really reach immortality if they could prevent telomeres from wearing off everytime cell divides?

Telomeres are related to cellular division, but not necessarily to aging in multi-cellular organisms (although they may contribute).

I don't know. There are probably lots of them. Telomeres are probably one of them.
