These are by Zapiro, a famous South African cartoonist.

Ha! Laughing

Thanks, Quincy!

I love seeing what cartoonists in different parts of the planet are making of it all.

More, please!

Most of Zapiro's cartoons are very much related to South Africa and Africa, so I don't think many people on this forum will understand them.

Why not try us with one or two, Quincy?
I'd be really interested! (You can "explain" them a bit, if you think that might be a good idea!)

Well, I tried to find one that wasn't too specific to South Africa

http://forbiddenplanet.co.uk/blog/wp-content/uploads/2007/11/Below%20the%20breadline%20Zapiro.jpg

Sort of self-explanatory. Recently, some of the largest companies in South Africa were caught price-fixing (of bread). Many people, of course, cannot afford bread daily, therefore they live below the "bread-line".

As an aside, only one of the companies was fined, ZAR300mill. or there about (about US$40mill.), which is small change for them. The other companies got off lightly if I remember correctly, but none of the companies involved have actually lowered their prices. The price of a loaf of bread, as I can remember, has gone up 200% or more in a few years- well above inflation.

On the SABC tv channel's 30th birthday. Many people say the SABC has always been the mouth-piece of the government, in the apartheid era and today.

Thanks for these, Quincy.
I had no trouble at all understanding them at all. Post more, when the spirit moves you. ( A few explanatory words, too (like this time), when you feel it's necessary.

Many of us have little idea of the realities of life in SA. Looks like life is looking very tough, for many. I knew things were difficult, but had little idea that things were quite so tough. Sad

About SABC .... Nothing has changed in 30 years?
