Endymion

As you can see I've been checking out the British cartoonists, too. (Had a lot of time to kill between parent interviews at work this afternoon.) Then I saw your post & was reminded of a few I saw. Now there's a terrific Guantanamo Bay one, if I can just find it again ....

I've always though Steve Bell to be one hell of a brave and skillful cartoonist.
Martin Rowson is up there with him. Here's one more from each of them - Bell first, 08.06.06: Tony Blair and CIA rendition flights

And this one by Rowson, 18.05.2006: Tony Blair's nuclear position

I think this is an excellent and important thread by the way... congratulations

I'm very impressed with both Bell & Rowson, Endymion. Their best cartoons really hit their targets, with devastating impact. Some quite take my breath away in their depiction of evil (I see that Blair is getting absolutely no mercy!) & Bell, on the Bush the Bush visit to Iraq, made me laugh out loud. Very, very funny!
How often are they required to publish? The quality of their work suggests that they have plenty of time to reflect on the issues & produce a spot on response. Their best cartoons say far more than the hundreds of published words on the same topics, I think. I find it interesting that cartoonists can "say" far more damning & outrages things than political writers could ever get away with. That's why I love 'em! Very Happy

Bush: fighting fit and shocked to be 60

We're not old yet, say baby boomers, as US president marks milestone birthday

Monday July 3, 2006

He is hardly an archetypal baby boomer. He wasn't at Woodstock - he was too busy helping his father campaign for the Senate in Texas - and he certainly didn't march against the Vietnam war, although exactly what he was doing at the time remains a matter of some intrigue. ...... <cont>
