This post might make more sense if you had entered it in your old thread with Snood rather than starting a new thread.

As for the PM feature. Last year A2K was plagued with a number of spammers who joined simply to be able to access the PM system. Not only were members being spammed, the wholesale spamming was slowing down the site.

Now PM privileges are allotted to members with a certain number of posts--I believe 500, but I'm not absolutely sure.

It might noddy. But there is no original post. It is a reply to a PM I got, but I couldn't answer my PM. I didn't want to reveal the contents of the initial message either, since it betrays the concept of private... So it is the kind of message that makes sense only to the one it was intended for.

Needs must when the devil drives.

I hope so. I've visited a few debate forums, but the thing that invariably turns me off from them is that there is so much garbage that it's almost impossible to find good posts. Here at A2K this is not a problem, and I find that I have to exert myself if I want to keep up. Now that's good old fashion fun..
