The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a The Adventures of Gilly. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool.

THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends next Wednesday, most likely

When not attempting to escape from the spooky mansion of a crazed anagram lover, Gilly enjoys sane, relaxing word puzzles. She asked a friend for a word, and since it rarely happens in the Haunted Woods, the word chosen was SNOWING. Gilly deleted the letter N to form the word SOWING. She kept deleting one letter at a time, always creating a new word, until only one letter was left, and that was also a word.

In what order did Gilly delete the letters?

Did you include the "N" she deleted "snowing" in your answer? =/

Great, at least 3 possibilities and if you want to use an obscure music term (si), a 4th possibility. I submitted one of them. We'll see what they decide to accept.

@komo95,
Yes, I definitely included the N.

I hope they accept all the different possibilities =P Instead of "win" I used "gin" which probably isn't considered neo appropriate

Just a thought, but considering they removed the "N" from snowing to make sowing, the letters didn't swap places. Therefore I'm assuming that when every other letter is deleted the letters cannot swap places either.

@qtmimib,
I would agree with that, so I don't think it is possible to get "gin" as that would require rearranging.

The answer for last week was O (Swing), W (Sing), G (Sin), S (In), N (I)

That was the only answer accepted and your answer was incorrect if you included the "N" Gilly took off =/

Well, boo to the LC for last week's limit on the correct answers accepted.

"In what order did Gilly delete the letters?" was the question. No indication that you should exclude the first one she took off and not include the initial N in the letters. Even without that, there are multiple valid solutions:

SNOWING (N) SOWING (O) SWING (W) SING (G) SIN (S) IN (N) I was the one they accepted.

The following should also be valid:
SNOWING (N) SOWING (O) SWING (S) WING (G) WIN (W) IN (N) I
SNOWING (N) SOWING (S) OWING (O) WING (G) WIN (W) IN (N) I

and possibly
SNOWING (N) SOWING (O) SWING (W) SING (G) SIN (N) SI (S) I where SI is an obscure musical term.

No one posted this week's yet?

The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a Spyder Juice Elixir. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool.

THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends next Wednesday, most likely

Roffle is a pretty confused spyder. Rather than spin your average web, he only makes square versions. You know, maybe he's a genius and we don't know it! In any case, the square thing is still kinda weird.

Anyway, one day, he came upon this pattern of dots on the ground because that makes perfect sense. He decided to use this pattern to spin his next set of webs.

How many individual square webs can Roffle form using this template, if the dots mark the corners of the squares?
Enter an integer ONLY.

Last weeks answer:

This one was pretty simple. You get the 4 squares in the 4 corners, the big square all the way around and the only tricky one is the one that is rotated by 45 degrees and uses the four points in the centers of the outside edges.

Total of 6

The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a Leaf-Raking Usuki. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool.

THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends next Wednesday, most likely

Lawyerbot was attempting to organise his Usuki collection and came upon a box with 63 Deluxe Angel Usukis and 113 Devilish Usukis inside. He also had an additional 72 Devilish Usukis next to him in a bag. Then, his programming went a bit haywire.

Every time he'd reach into the box, he'd pull out two Usukis. If they were different, he'd toss a Deluxe Angel Usuki back in. If they were the same, he'd toss a Devilish Usuki back in. He kept doing this until there was only one Usuki left in the box.

Which Usuki was it?

@lennyfan,
Doesn't really make sense at the moment, but it's 50/50 unless there is some other twist to it.
Here is what I speculate:
If they were different, the angel one gets tossed back in.
But if they were the same, the devilish one gets tossed ... what if he drew out two angels instead of two devils? there is no devilish one to toss back into the box, so he would have no choice but to keep both angels... or would both Angels go back into the box? And although it mentions the extra devilish Usukis in a bag, it clearly says "every time he'd reach into the BOX". I assume that we don't include the extras in the bag at all.
Discounting the ones in the bag, there are 176 in total.
Angel + Angel = approx. 18% (still trying to work out whether both angels are sorted or both go back into the box)
Angel + Devil = approx. 36% chance
Devil + Devil = approx. 32% chance
There is a higher chance of two same ones being chosen [(angel + angel) + (devil + devil)] , so a devil would be tossed back into the box more often.

The odds favor the Devilish Usuki being left, but I am not entirely sure if I'm on the right track with this.

@vievk,
I don't really get the point of mentioning an extra bag with 72 Devillish Usukis...

@darkpenguin6,
Actually, I think the bag is there for when Lawyerbot picks out 2 Deluxe Angel Usukis, he takes a Devillish Usuki from the bag and tosses it in the box.

@vievk,
both have an odd number, right?
if both are the same, then an either one devil or two angels get sorted

for all angels to be sorted, and not thrown back in, there would have to be an even amount of angels
