A Neofriend of mine figured it out something like 2 minutes after it was released, but I am still stumped.
There doesn't seem to be any relationship between the petpets and when they won the PPL. =/

try looking around at the rainbow pool. the petpets have something in common. (and the shop is a vague hint as well).
Finally.....one that even I could solve!

The "Christams" Puding part (prize) threw me off, but after i thought about it, it made a LOT of sense. xDD
Prize mails are out, so the solution for anyone that didn't get it:
At the Rainbow Pool, if you choose All Petpet Colours, then select Custard, you see a group of 12 Petpets that can be colored custard. Going along the top row and then to the beginning of the second row, the 8th Petpet is the Moltenore.

The current prize for the first 250 correct entries is a Mummy Plushie. You will also get a cool trophy that people can see when they do a user lookup on you! And all correct entries will split the 2,000,000 Neopoint prize pool.

I've been hunting, but not finding. It seems like it has to be some list of things somewhere or words within an article or something like that on the Neopets site.

same. google searches bring up nothing but petpages. i'm thinking it must be an article on a flash portion of the site. like how the key quest tutorial one was
i thought about the flash portions too, so i checked ALL the comics for the Lost Desert Plot.
believe it or don't, it took them until chapter 9 to actually use the word 'fruit.'
and not once did they use 'mummy'
looked like a good lead for a while, but turned out to be a bust.
I checked all the neopet and petpet descriptions and the tutorial. No dice.
