@wertyiu102,
I didn't even catch the New Year's references - I do like how they tie the Lenny in topically.

I'm later than ever today, lol. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to all Smile By some miracle I managed to get top 250 for the previous Lenny, but it will be a miracel if I even manage to answer this one.

I know what a football is, but why would u use such a complicated shape to solve a problem when you can just use 4 equilatral triangles + 6 curved shapes (sector minus triangle).

@wertyiu102,
hahaha, awesome catch! How clever! (and happy new year to everyone!)

also, the "football" that i kept referring to was just merely my way of saying "the shaded area of interest that in my mind looks like a football, from Round #334" sorry for the confusion.

Because when I looked at it I saw three intersecting identical shapes, but didn't see the arrangement you are describing. I used two triangles plus four curved shapes to get the area of the football and one triangle plus three curved shapes to get the area of the center section, never noticing that all the triangles and all the curved shapes were the same. (Bangs head on table.)

So I solved it with 3 (2 triangles + 4 curves) - 2 (1 triangle + 3 curves) = 4 triangles + 6 curves, so I should have come up with at least the same numerical answer as you, just with lots more calculation.

*sighs* My math teacher is right... I am mental... I just did something or another and submitted an almost random answer... I feel so ashamed... Haha, it actually worked once though... Smile Once, I guessed a random anwer that was based off the hints given and I got it correct!!! ^__^

@wertyiu102,
If you don't like the explicit answer being given, vote it thumbs down.

The answer is out now. I would have gotten it right if I put 4 triangles in my equation instead of 3. Razz I probably had 3 on my mind since sqrt(3) was part of the equilateral triangle part. I used the method described here to solve it (http://mathforum.org/library/drmath/view/55382.html).

Here's our problem. Whenever we post a Lenny Conundrum question, people solve it and then tell it to everyone else, thereby ruining it for the people that work hard to get the answer and the prize. It's unfair because some people spend a lot of time trying to solve it, and others don't do any work at all; they just get the answer from the Neoboards or elsewhere.

Therefore, to punish all of you, we're not telling you what the question is. You'll just have to guess the answer. Maybe that will teach you a lesson: don't spoil the Lenny Conundrum for others!

Oh my! xD

That LC was from early Jan. of Year 8. Maybe the answer is Year 12? :/
