The IC repeats definitely stand out to me, but I'm still trying to find a solution to this.

I'm pretty sure you need to find two more pairs of letters to go in the blanks. Then you take those four letters, rearrange them into a word and submit the word. It is likely that the word is related to the Atlas of the Ancients plot.

Ichthyology isn't related to the season or the plot. Sorry, that one doesn't make any sense.
I think I can safely say it's not related to Iceland, Ichthyology, or Ichabod Crane for that matter.

this is too confusing for me... doesnt make any sense, however - can i suggest maybe a posibilities for the 'IC' - some of the prizes given were 'MechanICal' items

So, if we are looking for seasonal things, what do we have as possibilities:
Advent calendar - where everyone goes to get free stuff in December. This year they've extended it to the Winter Wonderfest. I see 41 holiday greetings, but don't see any obvious pattern to match our list.
Gift tags - Lots of those, but they all just say To/From. I think we can cross those off the list.
Terror Mountain - winter year round, three areas there.
Altador and Shenkuu are up in the mountains, but not really Christmas/Winter-themed
Christmas-themed pets (46) or petpets (56)?
Any other ideas?

One of your possibilities is very good.
Looking at Terror Mountain, Happy Valley has 10 shops/activities, Top of the Mountain has 11, and the Ice Caves have 8. They each also have links to the other two sections.
