@edstock,
tnt put some fake clues for people who randomly went through the lenny conundrums without actually figuring it out. that's where everyone got the other answers.

Also: if your clue began with maybe, it isn't the correct answer

I think I know where some people made a mistake, and it wasn't necessarily by looking at random LCs. Rather, they misread one of the clues, and looked at the wrong LC.

@poetrygirl4life,
and does it mean posted ON the 11th day or posted FOR the 11th day, that is where I went wrong. that could refer to 2 different puzzles.

@tigre,
tigre, way not cool, man. I worked hard in following the clues, and working it out for myself, as did a lot of others. We had a chance to get under 250 correct answers, and you just blew it.

Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 326). You have won 1079 NP!

Because you were in the first 250 to guess correctly, you also have been awarded a ARRRR! A Pirate Scorchios Tale, and receive a trophy and the Lenny Conundrum avatar!

Yours Sincerely,
The Neopets Team!

@EvilMynci,
As a point of reference, I submitted my answer around midnight of the day the riddle was released and was not among the first 250 to guess correctly.

I got an upgrade. Smile I solved this one very efficiently for a change, and submitted my answer around 20 or 25 minutes after the Lenny Conundrum was posted.

i thought i did it pretty quickly too -- but not enough for an upgrade.
made first 250 though (again)

from the NPs awarded, that means 1854 people got it. way more than the 250 we were trying for, thanks to the answer being posted.

New puzzle:

Ember the Fire Faerie threw a special party at the Gormball Championships, where exactly three of every Neopet species was invited. To feed them all, Ember ordered pizzas from Pizzaroo.

For the type of pizza that she ordered, Pizzaroo has two different prices: The 16-inch-diameter pizzas are 525 Neopoints each, and the 12-inch-diameter pizzas are 299 Neopoints each. Assuming that the average Neopet will eat 70 square inches of pizza (although, obviously, Pteris will eat much less and Skeiths will eat much more), what is the minimum number of Neopoints that Ember needs to feed everyone? Remember, that only whole pizzas can be purchased, and assume that only the invited guests will be eating pizza; Ember will just have a salad or something.

Please enter only a number. For example, if you calculated the answer to be 12000 Neopoints, you would submit only the number 12000.

Okay, I think I have it also. I wouldn't necessarily call it simple math. Yes, the operations are simple, but understanding the problem isn't necessarily so easy. The actual branch of mathematics that applies is linear programming.

Admittedly, I only had to enter 40 possible combinations in my spreadsheet to ensure I found the right result, but first I had to make sure I found the proper coefficients.

Now that last week's Lenny Conundrum has been judged, it is time to post the full solution.

This weeks LC said:
Due to circumstances not entirely beyond our control, the Lenny Conundrum question you were expecting will not be appearing on this page. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Not entirely beyond their control - obviously they are doing it on purpose and there really is a conundrum this week. And the question will not be appearing on this page.

Well, the easiest way to not have something on a web page is to put it in comment markers on the page. So, the first step is to view the source code of the Lenny Conundrum page.

When we do that, and scroll down to the the text that did appear, we find a comment right after that text. That comment says:
Hmm. Maybe if you checked out the most recent Lenny Conundrum whose number is a perfect square, maybe you could figure it out. Also, we should let you know that if the number of correct entries is less than 250, we will significantly upgrade the prize! So don't tell anyone any hints!

This is round 326, so the most recent perfect square is 18x18=324.

Looking at the solution to round 324 and looking at the source code (which we get by copying the URL to the address bar of a standard page and then viewing the source code, or alternatively, using the ctrl-U keyboard shortcut to display the source code), we find:
This isn't the question for Lenny Conundrum #326. Perhaps if you find the Lenny Conundrum that was released for the 11th Day of Relaxing of this year....

11th Day of Relaxing - That would be June 11, 2009. Now, which round was released that week? What I did was go back through this forum and find the posts on June 10th. (The conundrum for the 11th would have been released on Wednesday the 10th.) I found the message that someone posted early in the day copying their congratulations message on solving round 313, so the new round would be 314.

Looking at the solution to round 314 and looking at the source code, we find:
This isn't Lenny Conundrum #326 either. Sorry to give you the runaround like this! Perhaps if you found the first Lenny Conundrum question that involved a hexagonal bathtub, you could find a clue.

Hexagonal bathtub. Which conundrum could that be? So I did some web searching. Searching on "lenny hexagonal bath" led me to
http://www.raisingkids.co.uk/forum/display_topic_threads.asp?ForumID=20&TopicID=7292 , which shows that at least one conundrum with Princess Amira's hexagonal bath was round 124.

So, we check the source code of the solution of round 124 to find:
Nope, no Lenny Conundrum #326 here either. Find the Lenny Conundrum that asks for the price of a Ghostkerbomb and maybe you'll find the actual question!

A web search for "lenny ghostkerbomb" leads to http://www.gamerzneeds.net/forums/neopets-general-discussion/49174-lenny-conundrum-208-answer.html , which tells us that is was round 208.

The source code of the solution of round 208 contains:
There was a Lenny Conundrum that mentioned the game Hot Dog Hero. In that puzzle, there was an image with a bunch of numbers on it. Add up *ALL* of the numbers (even the hidden ones) and submit that as your answer to Lenny Conundrum #326. Good luck!

Finally, this looks like we are getting close to the end. But which round mentioned Hot Dog Hero? My first step was to find out when Hot Dog Hero came out. Off to www.fgn-guild.com to search for Hot Dog Hero. It says it went on-line 01/17/2008. So search back through this forum to find what rounds were going on near that time. Page 340 has a post on January 16, 2008 with someone being congratulated for winning round 246. So, looking at solutions starting from 248, we find that round 250 was:

To celebrate the 250th Lenny Conundrum, we had this spectacular puzzle planned for you guys. There was going to be a party on Mystery Island, and punch and pie were going to be served. However, we got a bit caught up in playing Hot Dog Hero, and accidentally spilled some ketchup on the puzzle.

Now, we can add up the visible numbers on the square and get 1928, but now we need those missing two numbers to add into the total. Back to this forum, page 352 has the key we need to solve the puzzle, which is that the numbers on the square come from PI. So, the missing numbers turn out to be 31 and 59. Adding these two numbers to the total gives us 2018 as the answer to Lenny Conundrum round 326.

As an aside, the comment in round 250's source code was:
Sorry, showing you the solution would give the answer away! You have to figure it out for yourself!

Finally, there were a couple of misdirection clues. If you looked at LC 315 instead of LC 314 for June 11th, then you would find:
Maybe you should just submit the answer to this question as your answer...

and you would have submitted NML.

Also, in the solution to LC 56, there is a comment that says:
Turn to page 2.

If you had found that one (probably by looking through all the solutions in sequence), you might try submitting the answer for round 2, which was 200 pounds.

And the final comment I found was in LC 148:
This is not a hint.

But I think that one dates back to the original posting of Lenny Conundrum 148, rather than being added as part of LC 326.

I hope you all had fun tracking this down this week and thank you to everyone that left some mystery instead of just popping out the answer.

does the new one involve calculus? i can figure that its asking for a min, but its weird cuz the relationship is linear rather than parabolic

I fail to see how this is not basic maths and why you had to use a spreadsheet, some very basic logic and 1 formula seem to be the only things needed. Thats the kind of problems you had to solve in elementary school really.

Also it's too bad so many neopians got the last one right, I wonder what kind of prize they would have given out.

@krazykatana,
I had to use a spreadsheet because of the difference between the price per square inch of the two sizes of pizza and the fact that you have to buy whole pizzas.
