@Firestar624,

I meant as separate shifts during the time she worked. Like she ,overall, has worked 14 complete days as in at least 14 morning and 14 evening shifts.

As I mentioned above, I don't think this is likely to be the way to interpret the question. Consider that most 24-hour operations run 3 shifts instead of just 2, and you always talk about shift-workers working a day when they work a single shift. (My mother-in-law was an auto factory worker.)

She worked a total of 14 days.
This totals the day and night shift since she cannot work on both.
DayWork + NightWork=14 days

There were 15 mornings and 17 evenings where she did not work.
Thre were 2 more work shifts on mornings than evenings.
DayWork + 2 days=NightWork

We can say that:
Daywork=8 days NightWork=6 days (since DayWork + NightWork=14 days)

Total of Mornings = Daywork + DayNoWork = 8+15 = 23 days
Total of Nights = Nightwork + NightNoWork=6+17=23 days

So, she was there for 23 days/23 nights or just 23 whole day

@edstock,
So does this mean she stayed at the mine even when she wasn't working a shift?

@jjbuttcrack,
Yeah but heres my issue...And I don't, now, nor have I ever had an issue with Jen. I think she's very smart and seems like a nice person. This is just an area where I very much disagree. The neopoint pool is never, ever gonna be big because of boards like this one. Obviously there was *1* recent exception so I don't think anyone who contributes to these boards has any right to be upset by the small neopoint prize. Which, really, is the only thing affected by giving the answer. I don't care about the prizes, I care about the trophy. And sharing your answer doesn't affect your trophy. I think it would be hypocritical of me to be that concerned with the NPs and prizes if I was part of the problem. Right? I've always thought of this board as a place where I could come and give others the answers when I had them and get the answers when I didn't. Maybe it's foolish of me to think that we were all trying to work together on this.

I think so, otherwise they wouldn't have made a point of days when people work no shifts. Also, if she didn't stay there, then she would have just been there for the 14 days she worked and wouldn't have had time to not work 15 mornings and 17 evenings.

Well, Kelly I agree to some extent. But I don't care about the NP prizes being small. The reason I'm opposed to just giving out the answers (as opposed to hints), is that it takes the fun out of working it out for yourself.

@jjbuttcrack,
Ok. Thats a valid point JJ. Last week I was having fun working that one out myself and almost had the pieces put together when someone came out with the question. I didn't mind because I want to get my answer submitted as fast as possible, but I agree it did kinda take some of the fun out of it. I wish there was a way to private message people just to check your answer against theirs, but there isn't.

That's why, whenever there's a complicated one with answers several digits long, I'll post a partial answer (with several digits blanked out). That way people can still work it out, and compare their final to see if they got the same thing, without just handing it to them.

i Totally agree, and wish there was a private message option as well. If we knew each others neopets usernames would could use neomail, I guess, but I'm not sure if that would be crossing some line. (either because we shouldn't neomail about the LC.... OR because it takes away the anonymity of this board).

@jjbuttcrack,
See for me, I would just rather have the answer fast. Whether I work it out myself or someone else does. I always try to work them out on my own. I don't ever sit here and wait for someone to post the answer. But I will be the first to admit, its been a very long time since Ive taken a math class. lol

@K311Y,
Oh yeah, you would be frozen in a second if you were checking answers against your friends via neomail. lol

I don't believe anyone on this thread has the right answer.

If she worked 14 days, she had to be there for at least 28 shifts. Because she could NOT work 2 shifts in one day.

The answer is that she worked 15 evenings, 13 mornings, and did not work at all for 2 days. 15 evenings plus 13 mornings (28 days) equals 14 days worked. Add the 2 days she did not work and that is 30 days there.

@christkid,
The wording of the problem is kinda confusing.

@christkid,
We took it to mean 14 shifts, either morning or evening.

@Firestar624,
The question clearly says 14 days. A day is 2 shifts.

Note: in my previous post when I said "15 evenings plus 13 mornings (28 days) equals 14 days" I meant to type (28 shifts)

i Really liked last week's a lot. That was so fun! i went to copy and paste the image so i could play with it in an imaging program (like we always had to for similar ones in the past), and then noticed that they have already made it movable for us. I was compelled to send TNT a feedback-comments email about it. Hope there are more of those in the future.

@christkid,
That's what I thought at first, too. I'm not sure about that. But I figured out a different method of solving it by using the amount of shifts possible while she was there along with the number of shifts she did and didn't work. And I got the same answer as blue. But I see how yours works out. It just depends on how TNT meant for us to interpret the information.
