Isn't guessing easier than finding out the answer when there is no visible pattern

@Leopard,
celery would be very impossible. Since it uses more calories than it gives out, John would have to move less than a sloth.

I doubt the answer is a sensical one. Celery would be an (unhealthy) educated guess, while the word answer would be something to do with letter properties.

@Jen Aside,
Well, I made my guess (not celery. =P). But I can't explain my reasoning for it, it is really random. Good luck to everyone. See you next week.

How about some sort of avatar item, all the phrases have something to do with avatars.

boo = evil fuzzle
somewhere away from home = the beach
sharp pin. To pop the balloon = ultimate bullseye
Not sure about this sentence... maybe robo or orange avatar

John was very skinny. Perhaps it was because he only ate ______.
Popcorn possibly?

Never jump out and shout "boo!" Especially in front of an ornate mural.

Where would you like to go? Hopefully, somewhere away from home.

I hold in my fingers a sharp pin. To pop the balloon, it's my only hope.

My floor is covered with an orange and blue rug. Underneath, the floor is polished oak.

John was very skinny. Perhaps it was because he only ate ______.

I noticed something. The last two words of the last sentences in each line have 1 or more letter "o"s
ornate mural, from home, only hope, polished oak.

I dont know if that helps at all, or even is a proper pattern XD
