Sorry, but rounding an invalid decimal answer leaves one with nothing more than an invalid whole-number answer.

It's like claiming that solving linear equations or factoring quadratics is "intrinsically ... physics", because physics uses algebra from time to time

You are almost supporting MY point. How do you derive the differential/algebraic equations to be solved, linear or nonlinear? The physics of the problem tells you what math to use. This problem deals with a sphere resting on a tub of water. Simple as that.

Exactly: The physics (the discipline) suggests the math (the tool) to use. But the math is not the physics, any more than a nail "is" carpentry or a microphone "is" opera. Sorry.

Re: Round 252: Volume of sphere, given volume of spherical c

...and so forth.

Only this answer is Correct, i got the same answer as 346232.98512874...., which round up is 346233.

72% relates to the surface area, not 72% of volume.

Thank you! Finally, a good explanation!
I just saw this a couple minutes ago and actually made an account just to say thanks. @_@

I am usually not one to bother with the Lenny Conundrums until after they are finished, but I like to know that I understand them at the least.

This one was throwing me off, especially with all the other "answers" people posted. I knew right off the bat the whole 388889 was wrong since:

1) I would like to think that Lenny Conundrum is harder than a basic algebraic equation that you might come up with your first or second year of high school,

and

2) I did not see anyone taking into account that the properties of a sphere make its surface area and volume have an exponential relationship, and so surface area will not necessarily give you an equal distribution.

Although regardless, I still could not come up with an equation of my own. I figured most people who were saying 388,889 just did not realize that the "SA to V" relationship is not linear, and the people who did get that were still completely lost - like myself.

So thank you, for creating a logical explanation that actually made sense with my initial thoughts. It is very much appreciated and I am positive I never would have came up with those equations on my own.

I thought that I might be going crazy since I was the only one who figured the 280,000/.72 thing was way too easy...XD

"You won the Lenny Conundrum! First 250!"

Yay! New one should be out soon then.

Or maybe not:
"A new Lenny Conundrum will be released in a few weeks, as Conundrum Lenny is busy taking care of this Grarrl egg he found., so sharpen your pencils and check back then!"

Actually, that meant that the previous one wouldn't be judged for a few weeks (which it wasn't). A new one should be released today...

You won the Lenny Conundrum! First 250!
Dear stormygoddess, Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 252). You have won 789 NP! Because you were in the first 250 to guess correctly, you also have been awarded a Mustard Mayhem Grarrl Gobstopper, and receive a trophy and the Lenny Conundrum avatar!

No trophy upgrade. I'm disappointed by the small number of NP this time but I guess, more time for people to distribute the answer = more correct answers.

Actually it says
"THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends in a few weeks, as Conundrum Lenny is busy taking care of this Grarrl egg he found."

Therefore, it will be judged "in a few weeks" i.e. TODAY which means a new one will be released TODAY.

Stop it. You aren't paying attention. The new one is released when the old one is judged. It was judged today so a new one is released TODAY.

Stop arguing and watch the news. When they post it at 4pm NST or so you will see that I am right.

They wouldn't have closed the conundrum if we still had to wait. A new conundrum will be out today.

I'm most likely completely wrong, but I was thinking that maybe it had something to do with a game. One of the games you have to walk through and you have to say what the next "square" is after the over, over, trapped, death. If that makes any sense.

I don't know, just throwing it out there!

what game are you referring too?

I can't believe it isn't a Math one this time & I don't have a clue?

I would LOVE to get one & update my trophy from bronze to silver or gold! I need that stamp too!

Could it have to do with the Mystery Island? Since the stamp is a Mystery Island TRAVEL STAMP??

what about the plot on Mystery Island several years ago? I wasn't on neopets back when that plot was ongoing so I'm not familiar with it but it's a thought?

How about some of you older neopians? Could it have something to do with the Mystery Island Plot?
