Many of us are on here because we like to bounce ideas off each other and work together to get a solution. We do not appreciate all the lazy creeps that just come to be handed an answer and then reap the benefits of doing nothing. Some people just expect that everything in life should be handed to them, man are they in for a reality check when they go to get their first job in the "real" world.

Yes, it angers me that lazy people that can't do anything for themselves get to collect the prize for a correct answer when they did nothing but copy.

And that is my two cents worth!

Well, the fundamental problem [ha!] with the LC is that there's an incentive for people to enter the contest even when it's something they would never figure out on their own. Those stupid avatars, for instance: people just trying to get the avatar in order to add it to their avatar count, that drives me batty. It defeats the purpose of having a weekly contest for the intellectally-minded to give ones who are mindless "collectors" a reason to enter.

Of course, it wouldn't be fair to those who do go the mile and figure out the answers, especially on their own, if the only prize was a trophy icon, so they have to strike a balance somewhere. It's just unfortunate that the only truly fair way to do it would be to give everyone a different problem entirely--could you imagine the nightmare trying to grade THAT? Smile Ugh.

Dear Varric,

Congratulations! You have guessed correctly in the Lenny Conundrum game (round 243). You have won 316 NP!

Because you were in the first 250 to guess correctly, you also have been awarded a Chocolate Balthazar, and receive a trophy and the Lenny Conundrum avatar!

Yours Sincerely,

varric, what did you answer? I answered "coconut", but I haven't received a neomail saying I was right - so I'm assuming I was incorrect.

New LC is out:

In all of Year 9, how many total Neopoints were awarded in the Lenny Conundrum?

Anyone know where this info can be found? If I had been smart I would have kept track throughout the year.

the thing is to figure out how many actual weeks of LCs there were so far in Year 9 and multiply by 2 million for the answer. I can't remember how many weeks were held over. Can someone help me out here, please?

This one is relatively simple to answer. Every week they give away the same number of neopoints. The only variable is how many people it is divided between but that doesn't even matter in this question.

Well, the thing is, when you multiply the number of people with the right answer by the number of points each earned (available in each week's news), they don't add up to exactly 2 million. For example, I've gotten 2002176 and such. The question is - which strategy do they want us to use? Do they want us to assume 2 million or find the exact number given out?

I know it is the same amount of points every week, the only variable is how many weeks points where awarded. I know there where a couple times that the LC was held over due to something and once due to holiday

Now what kind of year are they talking about? Planet eart year, or the neopian year that starts in November?

A quick search of Neoptian Times archive showed:
http://neopets.com/nf.phtml?nf_date=2007-01-01

The first issue in 2007, and hence first day when award was made in 2007. The issue states that answer was 125020, which by scanning the past conundrums hints it was LC# 197.

The one that finished today (and last award so far paid) was LC# 243

Hence there was 47 LC's this year so far for which NP's were awarded... Times 2,000,000 NPS for each LC... That's 94,000,000 NP's......

My logic: 197 may have started last year, but it finished this year, hence award was given in Y9. Since the question asks how many total NPS were awarded in a year, I counted it in....

Of course that's a very quick guess in a desperate attempt for that golden trophy.... So I may have missed something very important, because otherwise the LC seems almost too easy... Someone can check me?

It does say in ALL of year 9, so perhaps they want you to include what's left of December as well Smile

THIS WEEKS PUZZLE - ends the first Wednesday of the new year, most likely.

I counted time 197 as one too so it'd be 47 weeks... times 2 million = 94000000. Anyways, that's what I put

The question asks "how many total Neopoints were awarded". I would say, if they wanted future ones counted in, they would've asked "how many total Neopoints will be awarded"....

Though sometimes TNT's logic is a bit off from the language in LC's... We've seen that before...
