Then 734 could be as likely an answer. I don't believe they intend for us to guess a number. Either a logical answer can be got by looking for patterns or using math, or not. I'm not in favor of guessing if there's more than one good guess available.

People are saying that we are over thinking, so maybe the answer is just all of the numbers added up. In every sentence it says they burrowed out--- cubic inches of dirt. Then it says they continued for one more hour after that, it doesn't say burrowing. Maybe they continued having tea or or eating snacks? Just a thought

some of the other boards are thinking it has to do with the alliteration of the first sentence

I don't think that's it either. They don't often "trick" people like that. It says "after that, they decided.." as in after tea and snacks. I think that the pattern continues, that there IS a number of cubic inches in the 7th hour.

How I came up with 35 is this

between one and five, the only missing number is three

Between two and seven the missing numbers are 4 and 5 however equidistant from 2 and 7 is five, same with 1 & 5. The only number missing from the first set is 7.

7 3 5

Okay, well maybe they straightened up the place lol. We don't know WHAT they continued to do for the next hour My thing is, they made it a point to say burrowing dirt in every sentence except the last one. That seems odd to me Confused

735 would fit in with that people are saying about the number having the same number twice becuase added to the rest it equals 3755...

I think I'm going to try 735 for the answer if nothing else come up. I already have the avatar anyway so there's nothing to lose Laughing

well i don't know.... for like the first column.... i was thinking either of those can be either or subtracted by two... the 2nd column.... they could be either added or subtracted by 3....

ex: 4 2 7
2 5 6

2 + 2 = 4

3 1 2
5 4 6

3 + 2 = 5

i dont' know.. just food for thought...

Yeah, but there's no discernable pattern for the third column.
